How To Get An Inexpensive Merchant Account

Let's Define an Inexpensive Merchant Account

"How can you call any merchant account inexpensive?!? They carry so many fees..."
I get this question from time to time, and I completely understand where people are coming from.

The problem is, when we think inexpensive, we tend to think it will be cheap right now.

Wrong!

Your merchant account is the LIFEBLOOD of your business. This is, after all, why you are in business: to collect funds from happy customers. If your customer can't pay you, or you can't get your funds, your business will DIE.

So let's be clear: An inexpensive account is one that won't cost you down the line.

The long-term relationship is what matters.

A merchant account that has the lowest fees on the planet, but which

... locks you into a multi-year contract

... won't return your phone calls

... doesn't post your funds to your account for weeks

... and can't keep their servers up and running

isn't inexpensive.

It's terribly expensive ... and in the long-term, it will kill your business.

But these "cheap" services stay in business.

Why?

Because too many business owners make the mistake of choosing merchant services based solely on "low rate" hype.

Not to repeat myself, but ...

An inexpensive merchant account isn't the one with "THE MOST HYPE IN THE BOLDEST TYPE!"

It is one that won't milk your business dry in the long run, costing you money, time and frustration.

Choose an account provider that offers you ...
  • a good, reasonable price without a bunch of hidden fees ...
  • AND that has been in business for a number of years and has a reliable reputation.
Don't join your peers in heading down the "cheap" road. OK?

OK. ;-)

Bottom line:
Rates are indeed an important consideration, but they're by no means the be-all, end-all to finding an inexpensive merchant account.
